Whilst shopping and dining may be Redstone’s stock in trade, this tiny unincorporated village presents an astounding number of accommodation options, including the unique, impressive, and quite extraordinary Redstone Castle.

Redstone Castle

Huge, resplendent, and now restored to its former glory, the Redstone Castle serves as the jewel in the crown of the Aspen Marble Detour accommodation options. Glorious and spacious, luxuriously furnished and just plain magnificent; as is often said about this former hunting lodge, crossing the threshold is to walk right into another time, completely.

Internet Extracts: “This turn-of-the-century jewel was completed in 1902 for industrialist and coal magnate John Cleveland Osgood. At the time, Osgood was one of the wealthiest people in the United States (purportedly ranking 6th), and rubbed elbows with the rich and powerful. John D. Rockefeller, J. Pierpont Morgan and Teddy Roosevelt all spent time at the estate. It is also known as Osgood Castle and Cleveholm Manor, its original name.

The upper floors of the Castle include the original bedroom suites used by the Osgoods and their guests, complete with oversized porcelain claw foot tubs and standing sinks. Each of the bedroom fireplaces is made of unique colored tile or Italian marble. In the secluded north tower is a two-room suite featuring a domed ceiling decorated with birds and flowers.”

201 E. SILVER ST. MARBLE, CO 81623

Internet Extracts: “One could describe the historic Beaver Lake Lodge and Cabins as being at the far side of the town of Marble, Colorado. However, in a town the size of Marble (pop.85,) it is more precise to say that the historic Beaver Lake Lodge IS the far side of the town of Marble.”

“A historic Lodge with Cabins and Private Home rentals nestled in one of the most spectacular and well photographed high mountain valleys of Colorado. Surrounded by mountain peaks, the Crystal River, Beaver Lake, the White River National Forest and the Raggeds Wilderness, from here you can explore an area rich in outdoor activities, history, and art.

Groups may rent the great room including a dining area, full size kitchen with 3 ovens, and a spot to relax by the fireplace. Use their canoes. Sit by a Campfire. Fish in Beaver Lake or the Crystal River. Hike. Rent ATVs. Take a Jeep Tour. Ride a Horse. Hire a guide. Explore Historic Sites and Galleries. There is no better place to experience Winter. Nordic ski out your door. Snowshoe, Ice Skate, Ice Climb, Back Country Ski (for those with experience), and Sled. Open year around. Phone and Wi-Fi services are available for guest use in main Lodge. Clean, Pet Friendly. Affordable ($79 – $125)”

“Our 5 cabins have been handsomely renovated without forsaking their vintage character. Each cabin is unique, but all have porches, hardwood floors, log beds, baths, kitchens and charcoal grills. The cabins were home to quarry workers a century ago. Campfire rings and picnic tables are outside. The lodge rooms have a cottage inn ambiance and are equipped with a kitchen or kitchenette, and full bathrooms. Cabin rates are $135 – $165 per night, and are now open year round.

Around the cabins and among the spruce and aspen trees are campfire rings, picnic tables, barbecues, and a hefty marmot that lives under the wood pile and pops up to check on our guests. Summer is our gilded season, when visitors swell Marble into a mountain leisure park. There is no golf, no tennis, no scuba diving – but there are fishing holes, river rafting, lake activities, horse rides and pack trips, hiking and biking trails, wildlife, jeep tours, ATV rentals, magnificent waterfalls, and relics of our rich mining culture to be discovered.  In the fall we get ‘leaf peepers’ and hunters. In the winter we are covered in snow, and enjoy Nordic skiing, back country skiing, snow shoeing, sledding, ice skating and ice fishing.”

The Williams House

House 1900 sq. ft. Sleeps 8. Bedrooms. 3 Bathrooms 3. Min Stay 2 – 4 nights. $227 avg/night.

Internet Extracts: “The Williams House welcomes total relaxation and serenity whether you are rocking on the front porch, stargazing from the rooftop balcony or savoring the crisp, fresh mountain air while relaxing on the deck! Escape to your “Home Away From Home” in this quaint mountain town and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Crystal River Valley.”

“This beautiful, historical home, built in 1894 by H. H. Williams, is one of the oldest remaining homes in Marble. The Victorian charm of this lovingly restored 19th-century home, situated within the heart of the Crystal River Valley and the White River National Forest, will steal your heart with its unique character and design, traditional decor and gorgeous mountain setting!

In 194, Mother Nature took its toll sending a mud slide through town, destroying the Williams House. The house lay abandoned until 1975 when John M. Williams, the great grandson of H.H. Williams, and his wife Ann, completed its restoration in 198. Now fully and beautifully restored, the Williams House has won architectural awards for its design and has been featured in House Beautiful’s 1982 edition of Home Remodeling for the excellence of the project. Situated on four acres, this three-story Victorian style home features 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and a fully equipped eat-in kitchen with a separate dining area that seats 6.

The second level has two nicely appointed bedrooms; the master with a king bed and a guest bedroom with a full day bed. The stairwell leading to the upper floor opens up to the third bedroom, situated under a dormer, with an en suite full bathroom. This inviting space is unique with a cozy reading nook and access to the scenic rooftop balcony.”
